چکیده

Remote sensing techniques based on images acquired from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) could represent an effective tool to speed up the data acquisition process in phenotyping trials and, consequently, reduce time and cost of field work. In this study, we assessed ability a UAV equipped with RGB-NIR cameras highlighting differences geometrical spectral canopy characteristics between eight olive cultivars planted at different planting distances hedgerow orchard. The relationships measured estimated height, projected area volume were linear regardless (RMSE 0.12 m, 0.44 m2 0.68 m3, respectively). A good relationship (R2 = 0.95) was found pruning mass material weighted ground its by images. NDVI February 2019 related fruit yield per tree November 2018, whereas no observed due abiotic biotic stresses that occurred before harvest. These results confirm reliability imagery structure motion estimating suggest further potential applications UAVs early discrimination efficiency volume.

Foliar Responses of Olive Trees (Olea Europaea L.) under Field Exposure to Elevated CO2 Concentration

Five-year-old olive plants (cvs. Frantoio and Moraiolo) grown in large pots were exposed for seven months to ambient or high atmospheric CO2 concentration ([CO2]) in free-air CO2 enrichment facility. Exposure to elevated [CO2] enhanced net photosynthesis and decreased stomatal conductance, leading to greater water use efficiency. Stomatal density also decreased in elevated [CO2], while the rati...

Pedologic Factors Affecting Virgin Olive Oil Quality of "Chemlali" Olive Trees (Olea europaea L.).

The aim of this study examined the characterization of extra virgin olive oil samples from the main cultivar Chemlali, grown in five olive orchards with different soil type (Sandy, Clay, Stony, Brown, Limestone and Gypsum). Volatile compounds were studied using headspace-solid phase micro-extraction (HS-SPME) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) technics. Moreover, the sterol profil...

High-Throughput Sequencing of RNA Silencing-Associated Small RNAs in Olive (Olea europaea L.)

Small RNAs (sRNAs) of 20 to 25 nucleotides (nt) in length maintain genome integrity and control gene expression in a multitude of developmental and physiological processes. Despite RNA silencing has been primarily studied in model plants, the advent of high-throughput sequencing technologies has enabled profiling of the sRNA component of more than 40 plant species. Here, we used deep sequencing...

Genome sequence of the olive tree, Olea europaea

BACKGROUND The Mediterranean olive tree (Olea europaea subsp. europaea) was one of the first trees to be domesticated and is currently of major agricultural importance in the Mediterranean region as the source of olive oil. The molecular bases underlying the phenotypic differences among domesticated cultivars, or between domesticated olive trees and their wild relatives, remain poorly understoo...
